THE POSTMAN

We all know the postman. He is a humble servant of the people. He moves from street to street and delivers letters, parcels, and newspapers. We become glad when he comes to our houses. We expect that he will bring some good news. Sometimes, he brings sad news. Still, we welcome the postman.

The postman wears a khaki uniform. He carries a leather bag. He keeps letters, parcels, and newspapers in it. He has some of these articles in his hand. When these are finished, he takes out others from his bag. He goes from house to house and knocks at the door. At his knock, someone comes out of the house and takes the article Sometimes, he has to shout and wait long at a place. In some places, the postmen have bi-cycles

The postman has a difficult task to perform. He has to walk for hours. He has to walk in the sun and the rain. He must deliver the articles to the right addresses. He has to sort out the articles before delivery and keep them in order. He must deliver them in time. He must reach the Post Office in time. He must be familiar with every place. He must be able to read and write. Sometimes, he is harassed by dogs. In the village, the task is tiresome. He has to walk long distances. He has to walk along difficult paths. Sometimes, he has to face heavy rainfall or flood.

The postman gets a low salary. It is hardly sufficient to support his family. He is a poor and hard-working person. Sometimes, he gets rewards from some people. But these are paltry sums. The postman deserves pity and sympathy from us.
